We have a saying in my family: “Pie is Important”. It’s so true. Pie can instantly make any day feel special, and Holidays just wouldn’t be the same without them. I was tasked with making dessert over Thanksgiving, and I wanted to do something slightly unusual to accompany my pumpkin pie. Thankfully I stumbled upon this amazing recipe from How Sweet It Is one of my favorite food blogs. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the bourbon in the pie (though I do love bourbon…) however it really serves as a flavor amplifier, not overtaking but perfectly complimenting the already amazing flavors of the apple and spice. I wasn’t the only one who loved it…my husband requested that I make it for his office Christmas party, and my family requested that I make it again for Christmas, and perhaps every family get-together hereafter.
I won’t lie…I didn’t bake the crust. I didn’t have time, nor do I currently have the counter space in our tiny (but wonderful) kitchen. So, I cheated a little, but you’ll be glad to know that even with a store bought crust, this was truly a bright and delicious dessert!
I changed nothing about the ingredients, so I’ll just link you to her post which is much more thorough and also contains a recipe for a no fail pie crust, which I look forward to trying next time I decide to make a crust! Have fun! Bourbon Apple Cider Pie with Oatmeal Crumb Topping
