Hot Toddy

October 13, 2010

There’s been a mean cold going around town these days and both Micah and I got it pretty bad.  I was nice and gave it to one of our friends as well.  So a few nights ago, with the hopes of feeling a little better, we all made ourselves some hot toddy’s.  I used to make them with tea but this version is much nicer, and would be perfect cooked up in a big pot for a Christmas party.  It comes from a book called The Complete Bartender by Robyn M. Feller.

Hot Toddy
1 oz. bourbon or cognaq
4 oz. boiling water
1 tsp honey or brown sugar
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 lemon, thinly sliced
Put honey (or sugar), spices and lemon slice into a medium sized mug.  Add 1 oz boiling water and stir.  Let sit for 3-5 minutes, then add bourbon and the remaining water. Stir well. Sprinkle with ground nutmeg if you like.

You really know how to grab people attention because when I started to read I wanted to know what will be in the end.
