Babywearing Style

August 27, 2014

I haven’t done a style post since the middle of my pregnancy. You see, I’ve been in a bit of a slump. For months I didn’t like my hair so I cut it, and then I didn’t know what to do with this shorter length. It’s also been a challenge to figure out a makeup routine that revolves around a baby. Plus, my body is a little different than it used to be. Though it probably shouldn’t have, this all sort of took me by surprise. Continue Reading…

Dressing the Bump :: Polka Dot Skirt

October 14, 2013

Sometimes the best solutions are the easiest. I bought this skirt at the thrift store a few weeks ago. It was a dress originally, and all I had to was carefully cut the top off, and voila! It was an instant elastic waisted skirt. The tank was another pre-pregnancy purchase, and it’s almost to the point of not fitting anymore, but it worked great for tucking in! I’ve slowed down on wearing heels in my pregnancy, though they do instantly make me feel a million times better. So I pull them out on days when I’m feeling my frumpiest.

Starring in my pictures are Bowser (the white dog) and Flower (the black dog). We were house and pet sitting for some friends awhile ago, and they just wanted to be part of the action. Who was I to say no?

Being only about halfway through my pregnancy journey, I’m still able to fit into pretty much all of my pre-preggo clothes, with the exception of a few pairs of jeans. It’s been fun to play around with different ways to show off my little bump and still (attempt to) look creative and cute. This t-shirt is one of my new favorites. I received it as a thank-you from Amanda Valentine for modeling a few months ago. If you haven’t heard of her, she’s a super rad Nashville designer, who also happened to be on last season of Project Runway! She’s such an inspiration, and is not only an amazing designer but is unbelievably kind, and an incredibly talented stylist as well. You should check out her line ValentineValentine, on Instagram (@valentimes) or on her Etsy shop.

Red Earth in Real Life

February 7, 2013

Red Earth Trading Co. is an incredible jewelry line founded by Travis Gravette, and run by an utterly inspiring group of talented young Nashvillians. They work directly with artisans in Kenya, who make each piece by hand, and 100% of the profits go back to their non-profit Know.Think.Act.  My friend AJ was (at the time) the videographer for Red Earth, and asked me to model for their Spring 2012 lookbook. I happily obliged as I’m a complete sucker for their pieces, and am in love with their mission. This was shot last year, but since I wasn’t blogging during that time (more on that later) I thought I would go ahead and post it now. They have a new collection, modeled by my friend Bekah – who’s basically a dead ringer for Kate Moss – and it seems that their pieces just get better with each season.

P & C

I have some seriously awesome cousins.  Jamie and Jessie are two of the most beautiful people I know inside and out.  They live in the Santa Cruz area of California…sigh…and they share a blog called Pomp and Circumstance where they talk about fashion related things (they both have incredible wardrobes) and design related things (they both have incredible homes).  I’ve gleaned inspiration from them my entire life.

You should definitely go check it out:
